Choosing your voice

A voice from here, with a natural Quebec accent, and several voices and styles to choose from: you listen before deciding who answers in your place.

The task it takes over

The voice answering is a first impression of a business. It is heard ahead of a logo, a website, an estimate. A cheerful tone in a notary office grates; a cold one in a salon does too. And generic synthetic French, at a business from here, grates just as much: callers hear at once that the voice is not from where they are.

In French, the Zenvox voice is a voice from here: a natural Quebec accent, and several voices — female and male — in several styles, from the composed tone a clinic expects to the direct tone a job site expects. Your callers hear someone who talks the way they do, with the words of your trade already in the preset — “job”, “soumission”, “déneigement”. This function lets you hear a preview before publishing a configuration. You hear each voice saying your own sentences, in both reception languages. Choosing happens by listening, rather than by reading a voice name in a list.

The Standard voice mode is the one behind an offer: it is what gets priced, and one Standard call counts as one call. A Premium mode appears in catalogue research, yet what it would consume has been settled by nobody — so it is not offered here, and this page says so rather than selling it.

Step by step

  1. Listen

A preview using your own sentences

The preview reads what a reception would actually say: business name, first question, closing line. That is what makes judging possible, rather than a neutral sample.

  2. Compare

Both languages, several voices and styles

You hear the same configuration in French and in English, then from one voice to the next — female or male, composed or direct. A voice that suits one language may grate in another, and finding out early helps.

  3. Choose

The voice mode of a reception

Whichever mode is kept applies to a configuration. It is visible inside an offer, and it does not change by itself month to month.

  4. Publish

    The configuration is versioned

Publishing creates a version: you know which one answers, since when, and going back to a previous one stays possible if a new tone does not land.

Part of your base, in all eight industries

Hearing a preview, choosing a voice and its style, choosing a voice mode and publishing a versioned configuration are base capabilities. French — with a voice from here, Quebec accent included — and English are included in a reception, at no extra charge.

What gets added on purpose: one qualified language beyond French and English, with its voice, its instructions and its journeys. That lives on a separate page.

What this changes for your business

Health and care

The expected tone is calm and formal, in a voice from here: a patient in Trois-Rivières calling a clinic hears natural Quebec French, not a synthetic accent from somewhere else. A first sentence matters: it says who somebody is speaking with and what will be asked.

Trades and maintenance

A direct tone lands better than hotel reception, and so does the accent: a Longueuil customer calling about a roofing job hears a voice from here, one that says “soumission” and “déneigement” the way he does. The voice has to stay intelligible on a call placed from a noisy site.

Beauty, fitness and classes

Reception belongs to whatever experience is being sold. Playing the preview out loud in the room, with its background noise, is a fair test.

Restaurants

Reception happens inside the noise of a full room. The voice has to stay understandable on a counter phone, rather than only in headphones.

What it receives

  • A business name and its reception sentences
  • Both reception languages
  • Trade vocabulary, already configured
  • A choice of voice — female or male — and of style, heard rather than described

What it produces

  • An audio preview of a real reception
  • A voice mode kept for a configuration
  • A published version, dated, and replaceable
  • The same voice on every call, with no drift day to day

Choosing a voice is yours, and it can be changed. Nothing reaches a reception until you publish a new version.

What is metered, and what is not settled

An offer is priced in Standard voice: one Standard conversation counts as one base call.

  • Standard calls included each month are the ones in a base
  • Hearing a voice preview consumes no call
  • A technical retry mid-conversation does not count a second time
  • French and English are included: two languages, one reception

Premium voice and whatever it would consume have been settled by nobody. No coefficient is published here, and an offer stays priced in Standard voice.

On the speech side

A status shown is technical qualification. Choosing a voice asks for no software on your side.

  • Telephony and voice orchestrationTo qualifyAvailable voices, their real latency in conversation and their cost per mode depend on an orchestration provider; those are conditions to qualify, not settings in a configuration.

Questions about this add-on

Does the voice have a Quebec accent?

Yes. In French, the Zenvox voice is a voice from here, with a natural Quebec accent — not generic synthetic French. It is not an add-on: it is the voice of every base, and your callers hear someone who talks the way they do, with the words of your trade.

Does it sound like a robot?

You do not have to take our word for it: the preview lets you hear the voice say your own sentences before you publish. The receptionist introduces itself as your business’s assistant at the start of the call — it does not pass itself off as a person — but the voice, the accent and the pace are those of a conversation from here.

Can I choose between several voices and styles?

Yes. Several voices, female and male, and several styles are offered, and you choose by listening to them in your configuration. The choice is published as a version, and it can be changed.

Do I hear the voice before publishing?

Yes. The preview reads what your reception would actually say — business name, first question, closing line — in both languages. Hearing a preview consumes no call.

Can the voice change on its own?

No. Whichever mode is kept applies to your configuration, it is visible inside your offer, and it does not change month to month. Publishing creates a version: you know which one answers, since when, and going back stays possible.

What about the Premium voice?

A Premium mode appears in catalogue research, yet what it would consume has been settled by nobody. No coefficient is published here, and your offer stays priced in Standard voice.

Is there a surcharge for English?

No. French and English are included in a reception: two languages, one reception, at no extra charge. A language beyond those two is a separate add-on, with its own qualification.

A technical drop mid-conversation — is that counted twice?

No. A technical retry mid-conversation does not count a second time, and one Standard conversation counts as one base call.
