Housecall Pro

Your request is written into Zenvox. Inside Housecall Pro, writing depends on the MAX tier — without it, there is no connection to install.

Where your request lands

The request is written into Zenvox: customer, address, urgency, reason and availability. Housecall Pro keeps the truth of your jobs, your estimates and your payments. A cancellation is taken and passed on, not written into the software. You find the call, its transcript and its reason in the app.

Two vendor facts govern everything else. Its interface and webhooks sit behind a top tier named MAX: below that tier there is no connection to install, and the receptionist stays in native mode. And it publishes rich events, although an event existing proves no matching write endpoint.

Housecall Pro is field service software for plumbing, electrical, heating and maintenance: a six in the morning emergency and a noon estimate travel different paths, and the receptionist sorts them out.

Read, create, update, cancel

These four lines come from prior desk research kept on file, which was not re-checked at our latest review. They change once an authenticated test makes them change.

ActionStatusWhat that means
ReadTo qualifyFinding an existing customer and job is described by this vendor. Access depends on a MAX tier, and no authenticated test from Zenvox has been recorded.
CreateTo qualifyFiling a lead or a request is announced. Exact writes — estimates, options, attachments — remain unverified: a published event proves no write endpoint.
UpdateTo qualifyAn estimate option status change is a documented event. Receiving it is one thing, writing it is another, so a second half stays unproven.
CancelZenvox native modeCancellation, refund and partly accepted options touch money already taken. A receptionist logs a request and sends it over; a decision happens inside Housecall Pro, by a human.

What is included, what needs an add-on

Answering overnight, telling an emergency apart from price shopping, texting back an unanswered call, sending you a summary: that is your base, with or without Housecall Pro. A connection avoids double entry; it unlocks no capability. Preparing an estimate and chasing it is one add-on; assigning a technician is another.

Add-ons for working with this software

Assisted estimates

An estimate file, missing photos, a sent version, follow-up until somebody answers clearly. A connection helps find a matching quote; it replaces no add-on.

Dispatch and field work

Assigning a job to a technician. A system of record gets settled first: two tools assigning one person at one hour create a conflict on site.

Authorisation, and where truth sits

A connection is granted, reviewed and revoked. These four points are conditions of a clean install.

  • A vendor MAX tier comes first: below it, its interface stays shut
  • This vendor issues a signing secret; every inbound message gets verified ahead of processing
  • One event can arrive twice, or out of order: a uniqueness rule gets written and proven ahead of any write
  • A system of record gets chosen per object — customer, job, estimate — and you revoke authorisation whenever you want

MAX tier pricing and connection cost were left unestablished by research; both get checked with this vendor.

Six in the morning, on a Monday. An account is authorised for reading; no write is authorised.

CustomerMy water heater is leaking, there is water on my basement floor.

ReceptionistI will take a name and a callback number first, in case we get cut off. Is water still running right now?

ReceptionistIf you know where a main shutoff valve is, close it. I am flagging this as urgent, along with an address and postal code, and an owner gets alerted immediately.

An alert goes out by text and by push, alongside a recording, a transcript and a summary. An owner opens Housecall Pro and decides. Nothing was written there, since creation remains unproven. A receptionist quoted no firm price and diagnosed nothing over a phone.

If no connection exists

A missing connection blocks nothing, and today that is a normal situation.

  • A request gets created in Zenvox, carrying identical fields and identical qualification
  • You find it in a mobile app, then copy it into Housecall Pro if you want to
  • No base capability rests on a vendor MAX tier
  • Once a write becomes proven, it attaches, changing nothing in your setup

Questions about this connection

Do I need the MAX tier to connect Housecall Pro?

Yes: the vendor interface and its webhooks sit behind that tier. Below it there is no connection to install, and the receptionist stays in native mode. No base capability rests on that tier.

Can she cancel a job or issue a refund?

No. Cancellation, refund and partly accepted options touch money already taken: the receptionist logs the request and sends it over, and the decision happens inside Housecall Pro, by a human.

The vendor publishes events — does that mean she can write?

No, a published event proves no write endpoint. The exact writes — estimates, options, attachments — remain unverified, and they will be announced only after an authenticated test.

What happens overnight, with no connection?

The call is answered, an emergency is told apart from price shopping, and the alert goes out by text and by push with the recording, the transcript and the summary. The request is created inside Zenvox with the same fields, and you copy it into Housecall Pro if you want to.

What does the connection cost?

MAX tier pricing and connection cost were left unestablished by research; both get checked with the vendor. What is certain is that no capability in your base waits on that tier to work.
