Takeout counters and quick service

Your receptionist answers questions about your menu, hours and a known order status, then passes the request to your counter. With Connected orders, she also takes the items and changes, and confirms only what your system has accepted.

An accepted order with Connected orders

With Connected orders, the complete order is sent to the supported system: items, modifier, name, requested window and stated allergy. Confirmation follows acceptance and the window confirmed by the counter. With the base alone, the receptionist passes the request to your team to handle.

Friday, 5:55 p.m. Seven customers at the counter, two orders in the fryer. The line rings.

ReceptionistRôtisserie Langevin, hello. Is this for a pickup order, a delivery, or a question about the menu?

CallerPickup. Two breasts, one large fries, and a salad with no onion.

ReceptionistTwo breasts, one large fries, one salad with no onion. What name should I put it under, and what time would you like to come by?

CallerSébastien Rivard, around 6:30. My partner has a nut allergy.

ReceptionistRecorded, and the allergy goes to the kitchen. I am passing the order to the counter: they validate the total and availability, and you get the confirmation with the real time by text.

Example with the Connected orders option.

For the requests you receive

An order for pickup

With Connected orders, she collects items, sizes, quantities and modifiers, then checks the requested pickup in your system. She confirms an accepted order. In the base, she answers the customer’s questions and passes the request to the counter.

A menu or status question

What is left, what is gluten free, when you close, where to park, where an existing order stands. She answers from approved information and arranges a callback when the counter has to decide.

A call during the rush

When the line is busy or nobody can pick up, a reply text goes back to the caller with your ordering link. They keep a direct way in instead of opening a delivery app.

Other requests you can delegate

Delivery, where you offer it

The base explains your approved delivery areas and terms. With Connected orders, the address, items, fees and order acceptance are checked in the supported system; a declined delivery is not described as confirmed.

What she does for your counter

The moves she makes on calls during your rush, from a menu question through to a request passed along, then what stays with your team. Every line is a call your line gets while you are serving.

When a customer calls with a question or an order

  • She first asks whether the call is for a pickup order, a delivery, or a question about the menu.

That sort decides what follows; a menu question books nothing, an order engages the counter.

  • She answers from your hours, your access details and your approved menu, drawn from what you configured.

A dish no longer on the menu, or information you did not configure, stays a passed-along request rather than a guessed answer.

  • She reports the known status of an order already placed, or passes the request to the counter when nothing is current.

A passed-along request and an accepted order keep two different states; she does not blur them in her answer.

  • In the base plan, she passes the request to the counter with what was said, so your team can pick it up quickly.

The base informs and passes along; your counter is the one who takes the request and confirms what it can offer.

When the line rings during the rush

  • When the line is already busy, a reply text goes back to the caller with your ordering link, so they stay with you rather than opening a delivery app.

A lost call is a direct order; the reply text protects that commission-free channel.

  • She alerts the manager with a summary for a group of ten or more, a private event or a complaint, rather than handling the situation herself.

The restaurant preset’s hot-lead rule applies the moment a request moves beyond routine service.

  • Outside service hours, she takes a message about a wanted reservation, a group or an event, and delivers it instead of leaving it unanswered.

A request outside opening hours waits for your reply, with its full description.

With Connected orders, the complete order

Once you add the option, she takes the order through to its acceptance.

  • Add-on

She collects items, sizes, quantities and modifiers, then checks the requested pickup or delivery in your system.

Connected orders option: the write happens in the supported system, not in a separate register. Connected orders

  • Add-on

She confirms an order once your system accepts it, and relays a substitution or refund chosen by the counter when an item runs out.

Included in Connected orders: she relays the counter’s decision, and sends no second order on her own initiative. Connected orders

  • Add-on

She checks the address, items and fees of a delivery in the supported system, without announcing it confirmed before acceptance.

A declined delivery is not described as confirmed; the state follows what the system actually accepted. Connected orders

Between orders, with Deposits and payments

  • Add-on

She sends your payment provider’s link for billing outside the orders already covered by Connected orders, and follows its real status.

Deposits and payments option: paying for an order covered by Connected orders does not require a second purchase. Deposits and payments

When your customers text, and if you already run a point of sale

  • Channel

She continues by text a conversation about an order, without confirming an acceptance that has not happened in your system.

Web and SMS conversational channel: the same rule applies, written or spoken over the phone.

  • Software

With a qualified point-of-sale or events system, she checks catalogue, modifiers, taxes and prep status; your own endpoints still have to be checked one by one.

This is a family of requirements, not a certified till out of the box: every vendor qualifies separately. My software is not in the list

What she does not do on your line

  • She does not take the complete order through to acceptance without the Connected orders option.
  • She does not announce a prep time your kitchen has not confirmed.
  • She does not take responsibility for an allergy: it is recorded and passed to the kitchen, with no guarantee about traces.
  • She invents no dish and no amount outside your approved menu.
  • She does not pick a substitution or a refund when an item runs out: the counter decides.
  • She does not bend your deposit or cancellation policy for groups.

What you can ask her yourself

She answers from the requests and calls you are allowed to access. A question about an option only applies once you have switched it on.

  • The questionWhich order requests reached the counter without recorded acceptance?

She reads the counter’s known status. Missing information stays explicit; she promises no preparation time.

  • Which calls got a reply text during the rush?

She retrieves the calls where the line was busy and a text was sent. She does not know whether the caller ordered afterwards.

  • How many orders did the system confirm today?

Add-onWith Connected orders: orders actually accepted. Without the option, she tracks no system acceptance.

What happens to the request

  1. You approve the menu and the rules

Your items, your sizes, your modifiers, your hours, your delivery areas and your pickup windows. You name who accepts an order and who decides on a substitution.

  2. She separates information from an order

In the base plan, she answers menu and known-status questions, then passes an order request to the counter. With Connected orders, she also collects items, sizes, quantities, modifiers, pickup or delivery and stated allergies.

  3. Your counter validates and accepts

A base-plan request remains for your counter to handle. With Connected orders, the order is written to the supported system and confirmation waits for acceptance. Preparation time comes from the kitchen; a stated allergy is passed on without an improvised guarantee.

What the Restaurants and events base covers

A receptionist who answers for you, in French and in English, from your hours and your approved menu, and who passes the request to your counter. No setup fee, and you keep your number.

  • Calls answered in French and in English, following the caller
  • Answers drawn from your hours, your access details and your approved menu
  • Information on the known status of an order already placed
  • The request passed to the counter, and a callback arranged when a decision is yours
  • A reply text to the caller when the line could not be picked up
  • A written summary after every call, readable in the app, and the option to ask her what happened

She does not take responsibility for an allergy: it is recorded and passed to the kitchen, with no guarantee about traces.

Decisions that stay with you
  • Taking an order through to acceptance by your system is the Connected orders module. The base informs, passes along and arranges the callback.
  • She does not announce a prep time your kitchen has not confirmed.
  • She quotes prices and items as you configured them, and invents neither a dish nor an amount.
  • She does not pick a substitution or a refund when an item runs out: your counter decides, and the order is not fired a second time.

Ask your receptionist, too

This is included in your base plan. She answers using the calls, requests and business information you are allowed to access.

Talk to your receptionist

A question you can ask

Which order requests reached the counter without recorded acceptance?

She reads the counter’s known status. Missing information stays explicit; she promises no preparation time.

What else you can hand to her

Beyond the base plan. Each one is added on purpose, separately from the base. None is switched on unless you choose it.

Connected orders

Take the complete order, check items, modifiers, prices and availability, then write it to your system and confirm acceptance. Authorized changes and recovery after a failure are tracked. Payment collection for those same orders is included in this option.

Deposits and payments

Add this for billing outside the orders already covered by Connected orders. Send your payment provider’s link and track its actual status. Payment for an order covered by Connected orders does not require a second purchase.

When your customers prefer to write

You can add a channel so she can continue the conversation with your customers. Any action she takes follows the same rules and the options you have chosen.

Optional customer channel

Customer text conversations

Continue menu and pickup conversations; writing and acceptance in the ordering system belong to Connected orders.

The transactional messages provided by your base plan and your own questions to the receptionist remain included.

Keeping your current software?

Check the actions supported, connection requirements and how to work when your software cannot perform the requested action.

  • This is a family of requirements, not a certified till: catalogue, modifiers, taxes, payment and prep status all have to exist on the vendor side. Your own endpoints still have to be checked one by one.

What if I do not use business software?

A counter has no front desk

At a counter, whoever picks up walks away from the till or the pass. Calls climb between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., then between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. — the two moments when the queue is longest and the kitchen is busiest. The line rings into an empty room exactly when it is worth the most.

And a lost call is a direct order. Delivery apps take a growing share of takeout and charge a commission; plenty of operators actively push customers to order from them directly. The phone is that direct channel, as long as somebody answers it.

Your receptionist answers questions about hours, your approved menu and a known order status, then passes requests to the counter. With Connected orders, she takes the complete order and writes it to the supported system. Confirmed acceptance, total and pickup window determine what she tells the customer.

In the same section

The other lines of work in this section run on the same engine, with their own requests and their own rules.

Restaurants & events

Takeout counters and quick service — your questions

Does she take the whole order?

The base answers from your approved menu, reports a known status and passes the request to the counter. Add Connected orders to take the complete order, including items and modifiers, check prices and availability, and write it to a supported ordering system. Confirmation follows the order’s actual acceptance.

What if an item runs out?

She says so when your menu shows it. After acceptance, the choice between a substitution and a refund belongs to your counter; she relays that decision instead of sending a second order through.

What happens when nobody can pick up?

Your receptionist takes the call. If the line is already busy, a reply text goes back to the caller with your ordering link, so they stay with you rather than opening a delivery app.

Can she give menu prices?

Yes. She uses the prices and items from your approved menu. She does not invent a dish, price or availability. With Connected orders, the information used for an order comes from the supported ordering system.

Does this replace delivery apps?

No, and that is not the point. Those apps take a share of takeout and charge a commission on it. Answering the phone protects the direct order, the one that lands on your own line and pays none.
